The Newfoundland Regiment will play tonight and Friday at the Mary Brown's Centre in St. John's when they go head-to-head against the Drummondville Voltigeurs. The game gets underway at 7:00 p.m. The team is currently third in the Eastern Conference. After those two games, their next game at the Mary Brown's Centre will be on February 11 when they face off against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

At the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown last night, the Newfoundland Regiment beat the Charlottetown Islanders by a score of 4 to 1. Dawson Sharkey, Justin Larose, Marek Danicek and Blake Pilgrim-Edwards all picked up goals for the Regiment, with Marcus Kearsey scoring the single goal for the Islanders. The next game is on Sunday, December 28, when the Regiment will face off against the Halifax Mooseheads at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.

Curling trials wrapped up in Halifax on Sunday. Team Brad Jacobs, from Calgary, Alberta, has earned gold in the men's and Team Rachel Homan, from Ottawa, Ontario, took gold for the women's. Brad Gushue, winner of the 2024 Montana's Brier, lost on Wednesday to Brad Jacobs. The winners of the men's and women's events will represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The provincial government is now accepting applications from individuals who are interested in serving as Team Newfoundland and Labrador’s Chef de Mission, Assistant Chef de Mission and Mission Staff for the 2027 Canada Winter Games. The Newfoundland Regiment endured a loss on Saturday, falling to the Cape Breton Eagles by a score of 3 to 1 at the Mary Brown’s Centre. The Regiment now head out on a six game road. On Thursday night, they will play at the Centre Georges-Vezina where they face the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.

For the second year in a row, the Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series winners. In Game 7 of the MLB playoffs, the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 5 to 4 in 11 innings at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers was named World Series MVP. The Blue Jays out-hit the Dodgers in the series overall and had the lead late in Game 7, but came up short. The last time Toronto won the World Series was in 1993.

The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the World Series. At the Rogers Centre in Toronto, the Jays beat the Seattle Mariners by a score of 4 to 3.
