Newfoundland Regiment opens second QMJHL season

The Newfoundland Regiment begins its second season tonight when the Saint John Sea Dogs visit Mary Brown’s Centre.

The season opener is set for 7 p.m. NDT on September 18, with the two teams meeting again Saturday night at the same time and venue.

The Regiment enters the 2026-27 campaign with a 23-player opening-night roster.

Among the returning players are forwards Louis-François Bélanger, Tyson Goguen, Liam Arsenault, Luke Sinclair, Damian Norris and Alexis Michaud, while the defensive group includes Jacob Veilleux, Kingsley Austin, Benjamin Girard, William Lundqvist, Will Reynolds, Alexis Mathieu and Quinn Norman.

The goaltending tandem consists of Louis-Antoine Denault and Antoine Proulx.

The opening weekend gives Newfoundland two opportunities to start the new campaign on home ice, with games against Saint John scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
