The Newfoundland and Labrador government has expanded its long-running ActiveNL Fund, introducing a broader program aimed at supporting recreation, wellness and community development initiatives across the province.
The newly renamed Active Living and Wellness Fund will provide enhanced support for community-based recreation, physical activity and wellness programs while introducing new funding opportunities for municipalities, Indigenous governments and organizations, local service districts, not-for-profit groups and other eligible organizations.
Among the key changes is the addition of a community capacity-building funding stream designed to help organizations and municipalities strengthen their ability to plan, deliver and sustain active living and wellness programs.
The province has also introduced a new holistic wellness, healing and active living stream. The funding will support programs, workshops, services and community initiatives focused on improving physical, mental, emotional and social well-being.
Applications for the 2026-27 program, along with updated eligibility criteria and guidelines, became available through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation on July 14. The application deadline is Sept. 29, 2026.
The enhanced fund will continue to support organizations that were previously eligible under the ActiveNL Fund.
