Fisheries and Oceans Canada has launched a survey on the Recreational Groundfish Fishery, locally known as the ‘food fishery’. The survey is seeking public input on the rules for this fishery in 2026. Participation is confidential, voluntary, and will remain anonymous. It will take about 15 minutes to complete. Government's snow-clearing announcement draws condemnation
Backlash has been fierce about the announcement earlier this week on the government's plan to return to 24-hour snow-clearing. The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador accused the government of announcing 24-hour snow clearing on the same 14 routes that already had 24 coverage. Woman arrested in stolen vehicle and false plate after fleeing police
On Thursday evening, the RNC observed a vehicle on Lemarchant Road in St. John’s with a false license plate. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the female driver sped away. A quiet Friday ahead before a low moves in tonight
It will be a nice start to the day across Newfoundland and Labrador with most areas expecting sunny skies or a mix of sun and cloud. Winds will also be fairly light. Most fuel prices increase
The cost of most fuels is up today. While gasoline saw a decrease of 0.3 cents per litre, diesel on the Island increased by up to 2.5 cents and by 2.7 cents in western Labrador. The price of furnace oil heating fuel on the Island increased by 2.16 cents. Stove oil heating fuel in western Labrador went up by 2.30 cents. Propane went down by 0.9 cents. The Board’s next regularly scheduled price adjustment is on Friday, November 28.
