A 64-year-old woman is facing multiple charges following an alleged assault in the east end of St. John’s. RNC officers responded to a report of an assault at about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 30. Following an investigation, officers located and arrested the woman believed to be responsible. She was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breaching a release order. The woman was transported to the St. John’s City Lock-Up and held for court Thursday morning.

There will be an announcement in Corner Brook today on the expansion of addictions treatment and recovery services. Minister of Health and Community Services, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, and Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, Joedy Wall, will make the announcement this morning. The cruise ship season is continuing as we move into October. Three cruise ships will be in port today. The Seabourn Ovation, which arrived yesterday, will depart at 5:00 p.m. The ship is carrying 638 passengers.
