The Squid Cove Forest Access Road is closed to traffic. The closures will last for approximately 10 to 14 days while Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro replaces the bridge. The access road is 3.6 kilometres south along Route 430 from the community of Castor River South.

The RCMP is reminding drivers that moose remain on the move across the province after officers responded to two separate moose-vehicle collisions on Tuesday. The vehicles involved in each sustained extensive damage. On Tuesday evening, police responded to a collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near Little Harbour between a passenger vehicle and a moose. Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to two vehicle fires on Wednesday. The first vehicle fire firefighters responded to was just before 7:15 p.m. on Cherokee Drive near MacBeth Drive in the city’s East End in Airport Heights.
