Karen Sheriffs has been appointed Chef de Mission for Team Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2027 Canada Winter Games.
Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation Minister Andrea Barbour said Sheriffs will lead Team NL alongside assistant chefs de mission Allison Sturge and Jamie Randell.
The Chef Team, appointed by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, is responsible for providing planning, leadership and operational support for Team NL. The group works in partnership with Sport Newfoundland and Labrador both in the lead-up to and during the Games.
The province said the full Team NL mission staff for the 2027 Games will be announced in the coming weeks. Mission staff act as a liaison between sport teams, the Chef Team and the host society, while also providing on-the-ground support to their assigned teams.
The 2027 Canada Winter Games are scheduled to take place in Quebec City from Feb. 27 to March 14, 2027. The Canada Games are held every two years, alternating between summer and winter editions, and are considered the country’s largest multi-sport event for amateur athletes.
