Brad Jacobs kept his championship hopes alive at the 2026 Montana’s Brier on Saturday while bringing an emotional end to one of Canadian curling’s most decorated careers.
Jacobs defeated Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue 7–5 in the Page 3-4 playoff game at the Mary Brown’s Centre, eliminating Gushue and sending Team Canada into the semifinal round of the national men’s curling championship.
The loss marked the final competitive men’s game for Gushue, who had previously announced that the 2025-26 season would be his last. The six-time Canadian champion received an emotional send-off from the St. John’s crowd after the match.
Gushue is a 2006 Olympic gold medallist and one of the most successful skips in Canadian curling history.
