City Proposes Converting Two Tennis Courts in Cowan Heights to Pickleball Courts
The City of St. John’s is seeking feedback on a proposed plan to convert two tennis courts in Cowan Park behind St. Matthew’s Elementary School in Cowan Heights to six pickleball courts.
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in North America and it’s also growing exponentially here in St. John’s,” says Ward 3 Councillor Jamie Korab. “Currently, the City does not have any dedicated outdoor pickleball courts available. The proposed location in Cowan Park would provide protection from wind and create space for a variety of ways to support the sport. We want to hear from people living in Cowan Heights, individuals who currently use the tennis courts, and those with an interest in pickleball.”
Engagement will be open from September 26 until October 13.
