Some showers will pass off the southwest coast today, and there is a slight chance that showers could creep into the Port aux Basques area. Highs across Newfoundland will range from 5 to 13, while temperatures across Labrador will reach between 3 and 10. Winds across the province will become lighter as the day progresses.

Fuel prices take another jump
Fuel prices are up once again today. Gas is up to 3.2 cents per litre. Diesel motor fuel on the Island increased by up to 5.8 cents, and increased by 5.3 cents in western Labrador. Furnace oil heating fuel is up by 4.97 cents, and stove oil heating fuel in western Labrador went up 4.54 cents. The next price adjustment is on Wednesday, May 20.

Province Launches Consultation on Strengthening Protections for Foreign Workers

Two Appointments to the Order of Canada Terminated
The appointments of two men to the Order of Canada have been terminated, according to notices published in the Canada Gazette. The notices said the appointments of Peter Dalglish and Jacques Lamarre were terminated by an ordinance signed by the Governor General on April 15, 2026. Work to begin on Foxtrap Access Overpass, causing delays
This Thursday, work will begin on the Foxtrap Access Overpass in Conception Bay South. To accommodate the work, the westbound left lane of the Trans-Canada Highway will be closed to accommodate repairs on the structure. Travellers can also expect alternating lane closures on Foxtrap Access Road below the structure, which will be controlled by traffic lights.
