

Wakeham happy with Canada's new trade deal with China
Premier Tony Wakeham is happy with Canada's new trade deal with China that will see the removal of anti-discrimination tariffs on lobsters and crabs, along with other goods. In a statement, Wakeham said, "With Newfoundland and Labrador being a significant Canadian seafood exporter to China, this is welcome news for our coastal communities." Canada expects that these products will not be subject to relevant tariffs from March 1, 2026, until at least the end of this year.

Flurries persist overnight for some
Gusty winds will persist across the Avalon and central Newfoundland this evening. There will be a couple of centimetres of snow this evening along the west coast. Lows will range from minus 10 to minus 1. In Labrador, expect snow for eastern and coastal areas, with most locations seeing 2 to 4 cm of snow. There is a chance of flurries inland.

RNC investigating fatal ATV collision in Portugal Cove – St. Philips
The RNC is investigating a fatal ATV collision in Portugal Cove – St. Philips that occurred on Saturday afternoon. Police responded to a report of a single ATV collision on Windsor Heights. Accident Investigation and Forensic Identification Services were engaged to assist the investigation. A 22-year-old male was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The collision is not believed to be criminal in nature.

RNC Seeking Public’s Help to Locate Missing Woman in St. John’s
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing woman in St. John’s. Police say 29-year-old Megan Clarke was reported missing. She is described as approximately five-foot-seven and about 170 pounds, with dark eyes and possibly dyed blonde hair.
