This weekend is the unofficial start to the camping season, and as we know in Newfoundland and Labrador, the weather for the Victoria Day Weekend is not usually summer-like.

Saturday
Rainy and unsettled weather is expected across much of Newfoundland on Saturday, with widespread showers, fog, and breezy conditions. Eastern and central regions, including the Avalon Peninsula, Clarenville, Gander, and Grand Falls-Windsor, can expect periods of rain with rainfall amounts between 10 and 25 mm in some areas. Fog patches will gradually dissipate through the morning, while winds shift to the southwest or northwest with gusts reaching 40 to 60 km/h. Highs across most of the island will range from 6 to 13 degrees.
On the west coast, including Corner Brook, Deer Lake, and Channel-Port aux Basques, showers or drizzle are expected to taper off through the afternoon with some clearing developing later in the day. Temperatures will reach between 8 and 12 degrees with gusty northwest winds.
Southern Newfoundland, including the Burin Peninsula and Connaigre regions, will see steady rain and fog with temperatures holding near 8 degrees.
Meanwhile, Labrador will see much more favourable conditions. Most regions are expected to experience a mix of sun and cloud with only a slight chance of afternoon showers in western and southeastern areas. High temperatures will range from 9 degrees along parts of the southeast coast to near 19 degrees in central Labrador.
Sunday
A much warmer and brighter day is expected across much of Newfoundland and Labrador on Sunday, although a few regions will still see scattered showers.
Eastern Newfoundland, including the Avalon Peninsula and Bonavista area, will see mainly sunny skies with highs near 14 degrees along the coast and up to 20 degrees inland where offshore winds develop.
Central and northeastern Newfoundland are expected to be among the warmest spots in the province, with a mix of sun and cloud and temperatures climbing to 20 and 21 degrees. A few scattered showers are possible.
Western Newfoundland and the south coast will see a mix of sun and cloud with a chance of showers and highs ranging from 12 to 17 degrees.
The Northern Peninsula will remain cooler with a mix of sun and cloud, scattered showers, and highs near 10 degrees.
In Labrador, western and central regions will see showers develop Sunday with highs ranging from 6 degrees in western Labrador to near 18 degrees in central sections. Coastal Labrador will see a mix of sun and cloud with scattered showers and highs generally between 7 and 14 degrees.
Monday
Cooler and cloudier weather returns across much of Newfoundland and Labrador on Monday as another system moves through the region.
Eastern Newfoundland, including the Avalon Peninsula, will see mainly cloudy skies with highs near 9 degrees. Northeastern Newfoundland can expect cloudy conditions with scattered showers and windy weather developing, with highs near 8 degrees.
Central Newfoundland will see a mix of sun and cloud and cooler temperatures near 9 degrees, while western Newfoundland will also see partial sunshine with highs around 10 degrees.
The Northern Peninsula will remain unsettled with showers and highs near 7 degrees.
Across Labrador, conditions improve for many areas with a return to a mix of sun and cloud. Highs will reach near 8 degrees in western Labrador and around 10 degrees in central regions. Coastal Labrador will remain cooler with scattered showers and highs between 5 and 8 degrees.
