Thousands without power across Newfoundland

Thousands of people across the Island are without power this evening as strong winds tear across Newfoundland.

The vast majority of outages are on the Avalon Peninsula, Burin Peninsula and in the Clarenville area.

There are also some scattered outages in the Stephenville area and on the Great Northern Peninsula.

Crews are responding to some outages where possible.
