Resource Enforcement Officers are investigating a suspected moose poaching incident near the Town of Heart’s Delight-Islington in Trinity Bay.
Officers in Whitbourne received a complaint earlier this month regarding a calf moose shot on the pole line in the vicinity of Fox Farm Road near Islington. The incident happened on or about January 6, 2026.
Investigating officers discovered the fresh remains of a male calf moose in the area, including the head, internal organs, tissue and blood. Fresh all-terrain vehicle tracks were also identified at the scene. The moose is believed to have been removed from the area by two all-terrain vehicles and a trailer.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Resource Enforcement Division at 709-729-2192. Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed two all-terrain vehicles, one of which was towing a trailer, operating near Fox Farm Road during the late afternoon/early evening hours on or about January 6, 2026.
