An area of low pressure located off the eastern coast of Maine is going to bring unsettled weather to Newfoundland tonight and Tuesday.

Tonight snow will push across Newfoundland but will quickly change to rain for most areas.

As the low departs, precipitation will change back to snow on Tuesday evening across the west coast. Some areas on the west coast could see up to 15 cm.

Heavy rain is expected on the south coast with 20 to 45 mm expected. The northern Avalon, central, and parts of the west coast will get about 10 to 20 mm of rain.

Winds will also be strong with gusts to 80 km/h anticipated. There is a Wreckhouse wind warning in effect for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity, gusts up to 110 km/h are possible this evening until overnight.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled crossings for this evening and Tuesday morning.
