OilCo Seeks Industry Input on Proposed Floating Dry Dock at Bull Arm

The Oil and Gas Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador has launched the next stage of plans for a proposed floating dry dock at the Bull Arm Fabrication Site, issuing a request for expressions of interest to gather industry feedback on an early engineering study for the project.

The provincial government said the initiative is intended to create jobs, attract investment and expand Newfoundland and Labrador's marine industrial capabilities.

The request for expressions of interest seeks input from companies interested in completing a preliminary front-end engineering and design study, commonly known as a Pre-FEED study, for the proposed dry dock.

According to the government, feedback received through the process will help define the project's scope, inform procurement plans and guide future development.

Located in Trinity Bay, the Bull Arm Fabrication Site is one of Atlantic Canada's largest industrial fabrication facilities. The site features deepwater access and extensive industrial infrastructure and has played a key role in supporting major energy and construction projects in the province.

The proposed floating dry dock would provide new capacity for ship repair and maintenance, marine construction, offshore servicing, defence-related work and decommissioning projects.

OilCo, the province's oil and gas corporation, manages offshore assets and supports energy and industrial development initiatives. The corporation also operates the Bull Arm site.
