Motorcyclist Taken To Hospital After Loosing Control On Loose Gravel

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital on Thursday after losing control on loose gravel on Bennetts Road in Portugal Cove-St. Philip's.

Firefighters with Portugal Cove-St. Philip's volunteer fire department were called to an incident involving a motorcycle on Bennetts Road at the intersection of King’s Hill Road just after 4:10 p.m. today.

Crews arrived to find a single motorcycle had slipped on gravel, causing it to go into a nearby ditch. The operator of the motorcycle sustained injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

Paramedics arrived and further treated the person on scene before they were placed on a stretcher and placed aboard a nearby ambulance where the person was taken to hospital.

Traffic in the area was down to one lane as emergency crews attended the scene.
