The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a reported assault in the Kilbride area of St. John’s.

Police say the incident was reported on September 15.

Several RNC units were deployed as part of the investigation, including Operational Patrol Services, Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Services, a drone operator and the Criminal Investigation Division.

Officers also searched the area for a male suspect, but were unsuccessful in locating anyone.

Investigators continue to support the complainant while gathering information about what happened that night.

The RNC has increased patrols in the area, and officers are canvassing for witnesses and video footage that could help with the investigation.

Police say there is no general risk to public safety, but are reminding residents to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000. Anyone witnessing a crime in progress should call 911.
