More than $1.7 million in federal, provincial and municipal funding is being invested in waterline replacement projects in Upper Island Cove and Carbonear.
The funding was announced Monday by Paul Connors, Member of Parliament for Avalon; Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Barry Petten; Carbonear–Trinity–Bay de Verde MHA Riley Balsom; Upper Island Cove Mayor Cindy Dobbin; and Carbonear Mayor Sam Slade.
In Upper Island Cove, 210 metres of aging water lines along Dobbin’s Lane, Sharpe’s Lane and Catty’s Lane are being replaced to help ensure continued and reliable water service for residents.
Meanwhile, in Carbonear, 303 metres of watermain and sewer infrastructure along Garlands Lane are being replaced. The project will support reliable service for 13 existing homes and allow for future residential development in the area.
