The provincial government is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Seniors of Distinction Awards, recognizing the contributions of older residents across Newfoundland and Labrador.
The annual program honours individuals aged 50 and over who have made a meaningful impact in their communities at the local, national or international level. Contributions may include volunteer work, professional achievements or community leadership that has benefited others.
Residents are being encouraged to nominate seniors who have helped enrich communities throughout the province.
To be eligible, nominees must be at least 50 years old, be a current or former resident of Newfoundland and Labrador, and be nominated by an individual or organization.
Posthumous awards may be presented, and nominations submitted in previous years can be reconsidered at the request of either the nominator or nominee.
The deadline for submissions is May 11.
Nomination forms and additional details are available through the provincial government, and assistance is available by phone for those needing help completing an application.
