The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Program, aimed at supporting farmers and strengthening food security across the province.

As part of Budget 2026, nearly $3.3 million has been allocated to the program—an increase of $1 million over previous years—to help both new and established producers invest in agricultural infrastructure, land development and new technologies.

The program will continue to offer support for input costs, including a 50 per cent reimbursement for synthetic fertilizer purchased from approved commercial retail suppliers.

New for this year, eligible farmers can also apply for support through the bulk limestone program as part of the broader agrifoods initiative.

Separate applications are available for land development, agriculture infrastructure and the limestone program, with a deadline of May 25, 2026.

To qualify, applicants must have reported at least $15,000 in eligible agriculture sales in one of the past three years, or meet criteria as a new entrant to the industry.

New farmers may be eligible for up to $20,000 in funding under the Agriculture Infrastructure Program, part of an effort to encourage growth and participation in the sector.
