It will be a nice Friday across most of the province with daytime highs ranging from 7 to 15 degrees. It is the calm before the storm.

A weather system will push through this weekend and has the potential to bring significant amounts of rain to the Island portion of the province. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are expected across Newfoundland this weekend. On the southwest coast and parts of the west coast, rainfall may locally exceed 80 mm.

On Saturday evening the south coast, Burin Peninsula, and Avalon Peninsula will see wind gusts to 80 km/h.
