Tender Awarded for Night Time Construction Pilot #nlpoli

A pilot project to test the effectiveness of night time road construction will get underway this construction season with the award of a tender valued at $2.5 million to Concord Paving Ltd, Carbonear.

The contractor will complete a paving project on the Trans-Canada Highway from Kenmount Road to Salmonier Line at night, helping to reduce slowdowns during high traffic periods in the day.

Through the project, the Department of Transportation and Works will determine the cost-effectiveness, value and impact on motorists of conducting road work at night.

A report will be prepared at the end of the project which will consider such factors as safety, productivity, costs and impacts on motorists and residents.
