The Newfoundland and Labrador government will mark the beginning of Pride Month with a flag-raising ceremony at Confederation Building on June 1.
The event, hosted by Women and Gender Equality Minister Lela Evans, is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. in the main lobby of the East Block.
The ceremony will include performances by the Spectrum Queer Choir.
Pride Month is celebrated annually to recognize the contributions of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community and to promote equality, diversity and inclusion. The month also serves as an opportunity to celebrate self-expression and raise awareness of issues affecting members of the community.
The flag-raising ceremony is one of a number of events expected to take place across Newfoundland and Labrador throughout June in recognition of Pride Month.
