Youth Charged With Attempted Murder Following Mount Pearl Stabbing

A 13-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Mount Pearl earlier this week, according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
Police responded to a disturbance at a home around 2:15 a.m. on March 30. Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from stab wounds described as non-life-threatening. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.
The youth suspect had fled the scene before police arrived, but was located nearby and arrested. He was initially charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
Following further investigation by the RNC’s Major Crime Unit, additional charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault have now been laid.
Police say the victim and the accused were known to each other.
The 13-year-old was scheduled to appear in court today.
