Woman charged following assault on Police Officer

At approximately 9:03 p.m. last evening, the RNC responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in St. John’s.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with visible injuries. As a result of their investigation, a female suspect was arrested at the scene.

During the arrest, the woman allegedly struck the arresting officer with a closed-fist punch to the chest.

The female was charged with two counts of assault and one count of assaulting a police officer. She was held in custody pending a court appearance.
