Woman charged after George Street assault leaves worker seriously injured

A 27-year-old woman is facing multiple charges following an early-morning incident on George Street that left a worker with serious injuries.
Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:17 a.m. on May 9. Upon arrival, officers entered a business and found an employee suffering from a serious arm injury.
The female suspect was located inside the establishment. Police say she became combative as officers attempted to arrest her, but was eventually taken into custody.
Officers allege the woman continued to be combative after being transported to the St. John’s lockup.
She has been charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats, property damage, resisting arrest, and six counts of assaulting a peace officer.
