Woman arrested in stolen vehicle and false plate after fleeing police

On Thursday evening, the RNC observed a vehicle on Lemarchant Road in St. John’s with a false license plate.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the female driver sped away.
Officers initiated a pursuit, but quickly discontinued the chase due to public safety.
Other RNC officers happened to be in the area where the 40-year-old attempted to ditch her vehicle. She was apprehended after a brief struggle with police.
During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was also stolen. The suspect was transported to the lock-up on charges of flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and breach of court orders.
