Woman arrested for theft at Ropewalk Lane Sobeys

St. John’s police arrested a 40-year-old woman on Sunday after responding to a theft in progress at the Sobeys on Ropewalk Lane.


According to the RNC, officers arrived at the grocery store where they found and arrested the suspect, who was allegedly attempting to steal a quantity of meat.


Before police arrived, store personnel had already recovered the stolen items.


Further investigation revealed that the woman had three outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was also charged with public mischief for providing a false name to officers, as well as one count of breaching probation and two counts of breaching a release order.


The accused was taken to the city lockup and remains in custody pending a court appearance.
