Woman Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Police Officer at St. John’s Emergency Shelter

A 35-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly assaulting a police officer at an emergency shelter in St. John’s.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2026, an officer was at the shelter conducting an unrelated investigation. Shelter staff approached the officer and reported that a woman was causing disturbances and refusing to leave the premises. They requested a police presence while speaking with her.
Police say that as staff and the officer approached the woman, she threw a cup of coffee toward the officer, narrowly missing. The woman then became increasingly agitated and allegedly pushed the officer during the interaction.
The woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer and was taken into custody at the St. John’s lockup.
