The Town of Bishop’s Falls says parts of the community are experiencing low or no water pressure as crews continue to investigate a suspected waterline break.

In an update issued today, the town said testing conducted by the Public Works Department suggests the break is likely located in the east end of town. The testing involved isolating Bond Street and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro property.

An engineer has been engaged to assist with the investigation and is expected to be onsite tomorrow morning. Public works crews were to continue investigating into the evening.

The town said the water system is currently depleted, with no water in the Hampton’s Hill tank. As a result, water pressure is being affected from the centre of town eastward, with higher elevations seeing little to no water.

Low pressure entering the Newtown Road booster pumps is also affecting water service on Newtown Road, Turners Road, Junction Road, Hampton’s Hill and Tower Road. The town said the Newtown Road pumps will be restarted if pressures improve.

To help stabilize the system, the Country Road water tank has been shut off.

Residents are being asked to continue conserving water to help the system recover pressure.
