More than $1.5 million in combined federal, provincial and municipal funding has been announced for water and sewer infrastructure improvements in the town of Mary’s Harbour.

The project will see the installation of more than 300 metres of new water and sewer lines along Lodge Bay Road. The work will support the construction of six new housing units that will be connected to the town’s municipal water system.

Funding for the project is being provided through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund, a cost-shared agreement between the federal, provincial and municipal governments. The program is designed to address existing municipal infrastructure needs while also supporting future housing developments.

Under the agreement, Newfoundland and Labrador has been allocated $123.1 million from the Government of Canada for municipal infrastructure projects aimed at preserving or improving drinking water, wastewater, stormwater and solid waste systems.
