Premier Tony Wakeham is not happy with the Federal Budget. In a statement, Wakeham said the federal budget raises far more questions than answers when it comes to whether or not it will benefit Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

He stated that there were no projects from this province named in the federal government’s list of nation-building projects, claiming that "a brief mention of Churchill Falls and Gull Island is not the same as a commitment to invest in our province."

There are also concerns surrounding potential cuts to DFO.

With that said, there were some issues that Wakeham said were positive, including language that seemed to indicate an openness to removing the emissions cap.

With the funding announced for infrastructure and defence spending, Wakeham said, "I trust that the federal government will want to make sure that Newfoundland and Labrador get our fair share of this national spending."

Wakeham is expected to travel to Ottawa later this month to meet with relevant ministers on issues pertaining to this province.
