Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services advised the public that visitor precautions were in effect at the Corner Brook Long-Term Care facility due to the potential presence of acute respiratory infections.

Visitation remained permitted but was limited to one visitor or support person per patient. Members of the public were encouraged to be mindful of the situation and to avoid visiting when possible.

NL Health Services said immediate family members should contact the facility before visiting. Those who did visit were asked to follow staff guidance, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

Visitor precautions are infection control measures used in health-care settings to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases and to protect residents, families, staff and visitors.

For more information, visitors could contact the facility at 709-637-3999.
