Two individuals taken into custody following lengthy stand-off in St John's, Saturday afternoon


The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) responded to a residence on Feild Street, Shorty after 12:00 p.m. Officers posted a public safety advisory online at approximately 12:25 p.m. stating "There is an increased police presence on Feild Street and that the matter is contained to a residence, and there was no threat to public safety at time. However, officers asked everyone remain away from the area while police conduct their investigation.


At around 1:55 p.m. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Issued another public safety advisory stating "Police are now asking that everyone on Feild Street to SHELTER IN PLACE and that the situation is still contained to a residence, and there are significant resources on scene for the investigation.


Shortly after 2:20 p.m. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Tacties and Rescue Unit started to arrive on the scene, TRU members were seen gearing up in armored gear and with rifles drawn on the residence.


After another two hours off a intense stand-off at around 4:20 p.m. Officers were seen taking two individuals into custody and the incident was resolved, officers also issued another public safety advisory stating "Thanks to the public in thier patience and cooperation and that the situation has been resolved, The public is free to move around the area once again. There will maintain a police presence in the area while the investigation continues.
