The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs has fired the town council in Victoria.

On Wednesday, the council, including the mayor, was removed from office, and a temporary administrator from the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs was appointed to provide local governance to the town.

Services such as water, fire protection, garbage, and other essential services will continue without interruption.

The administrator will also conduct a comprehensive review of the town operations, reviewing and updating by-laws, updating the Code of Conduct for councillors, updating the Emergency Management Plan, building a stronger relationship with the fire department, supporting financial matters and audits, helping to prepare the budget, supporting day-to-day requirements, and other municipal matters as they arise.
