Urgent Care opening today in St. John's

Today, the Urgent Care Centre at 28 Stavanger Drive in St. John's will open to the public.

Urgent care centres are meant to alleviate wait times in emergency departments by providing less emergent care to patients.

Urgent care centres are equipped to deal with injury assessment, such as sprains, strains and minor breaks; skin infections, burns and cuts; respiratory infections with fever, cough and/or shortness of breath; stomach illness with nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea; and urinary tract infections.

A secondary urgent care centre will open at 850 Topsail Road in Mount Pearl eventually. An opening date has yet to be determined.
