Urgent Care Centre to open in St. John's

The St. John's metro region will be getting a new Urgent Care Centre.

The new centre will be designed to reduce the strain on emergency rooms.

Eastern Health has issued a Request for Proposals for space for the new centre. It will be equipped to deal with sprains and strains, new and worsening non-emergent pain, fever and infections, and childhood illness and injury, cuts, wounds or skin conditions.

Globally, Urgent Care Centres help offload increasing demands from emergency departments.
