Updated with video: Residents displaced after fire at apartment complex in St. John's

Firefighters rushed to an apartment building on Charter Avenue in the city's east-end late Monday night following reports of a kitchen fire in one of the units. Multiple stations from the SJRFD quickly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, the fire was already extinguished by the building's sprinkler system, but crews diligently inspected for any lingering hotspots.

Unfortunately, some residents were temporarily displaced as the sprinkler system caused flooding in the affected unit/s. The Canadian Red Cross was also called to the scene to help displaced individuals.

There were no injuries reported
