Update to Non-Health Related Services and Amenities at Eastern Health

Eastern Health has made some changes at facilities across the region to adjust to alert level 5 and restrictions have been implemented across the health-care system.

Patients belongings:

Arrangements can be made for the drop off of personal belongings for patients admitted to any of Eastern Health’s health-care facilities. Clothing must be freshly laundered, and food items are pre-packaged and do not require refrigeration. All personal items should be placed in a clear bag with the patient’s name clearly written on the package along with the sender’s name. Packages will be accepted at the door and delivered by a staff person to the patient.

Food services:

The Tim Hortons location near the main entrance area of the Health Sciences Centre is closed while the Tim Hortons location directly outside the hospital’s cafeteria will continue to operate 24 hours a day from Sunday to Thursday, and from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Carbonear General Hospital cafeteria is closed to the public at this time. All other cafeterias will remain open across the region.

Parking fees:

Parking fees for access to patient parking lots at the Health Sciences Centre and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital will be temporally suspended in an effort to reduce the number of high touch points.

Television and Telephone services:

Hospital television and telephone service fees are being waived temporarily while visitor restrictions are in place at the Health Sciences Centre, Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre, St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Carbonear General Hospital, Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, and the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital.
