Update on Schools and Post-Secondary
Upon reverting to Alert Level 5 province-wide on Friday evening, there are several updates to schools and post-secondary institutions.
All K-12 in-class instruction across Newfoundland and Labrador is suspended. The NLESD is moving to Scenario 3 which is online learning for all schools within all regions.
Scenario 3 of the Back to School plan released in September will be in effect until further notice.
College of the North Atlantic has announced that all programs will move to online delivery starting on Tuesday, February 16 and will be in effect until Monday, March 8.
Reading Week break will continue for students as scheduled, March 1-5, 2021.
For campuses that had their programs move to online delivery last week (including Prince Philip Drive, Ridge Road, Seal Cove, Carbonear and Placentia), their programs begin as scheduled, Monday, February 15, 2021.
Students currently completing programs online will see no change in their program delivery and will continue online as scheduled.
Academy Canada on Kenmount Road and Harding Road in St. John's transitioned to off-site instruction for at least two weeks that started on February 11. The Corner Brook Campus will transition to online learning today.
Keyin College has closed all campuses immediately. From Monday to Wednesday there will be a Mid Break/Mental Health holiday. More information will be coming about how classes resume on Thursday.
From February 10 to 23, Memorial will be a fully remote teaching, learning and work environment at the St. John’s, Signal Hill and Marine Institute campuses.
For Grenfell Campus, all faculty and staff are working from home again. ITS is available remotely to assist with home computer set up. Senior leadership is currently working out details for those who will need to visit campus to retrieve items. All classes are now remote. For those students who have been participating in on-campus classes this term, a further update will be provided from your dean, director or instructor.
The above dates may be changed as the COVID-19 situation evolves.
