Update on booster eligibility and weekly COVID-19 update

Dr. Fitzgerald says the BA 5 variant doesn't seem to cause more severe disease, however, those who have had COVID-19 in the past can get it again.

At this time those who are COVID-19 positive must continue to isolate.

Fitzgerald says that as of July 20, those 50 and older will be eligible for a second booster.

After being infected with COVID-19 Fitzgerald says you may want to wait three months before getting vaccinated.

There is no plan to bring back the mask mandate but it is recommended that people continue to wear masks.

COVID-19 remains the dominant virus that is currently circulating.

In the weekly COVID-19 update there are three people in hospital, of those, none are in critical care. There have been four more deaths.
