Two Vehicles Destroyed Along With SUV and Camper Damaged Following Fire in Downtown St. John’s

Two vehicles were destroyed and a camper and SUV sustained fire damage following a vehicle fire in downtown St. John’s early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the parking lot of Monastery Hotel at around 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday. Crews arrived to find a pickup and an SUV fully engulfed and quickly laid an attack line to control the blaze before it could spread to any further vehicles. Firefighters at one point after the fire was under control had to go refill the fire truck with water to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Neighbours and guests in the area were woken after hearing loud bangs caused by the vehicle fire.

The fire could be seen across the downtown area as the blaze continued to burn. There didn’t appear to be any injuries as a result of the fire. Paramedics and officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary attended the scene.
