RCMP Traffic Services East impounded two vehicles and ticketed two drivers after separate traffic stops in Harbour Grace and Marysvale over the weekend.
Police say officers stopped two unregistered and uninsured vehicles while patrolling local highways. The drivers — a 60-year-old man from Heart’s Desire and a 64-year-old man from Georgetown — were issued summary offence tickets under the Highway Traffic Act, and both vehicles were impounded.
On Jan. 23, at about 10:44 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 75, the Veterans Memorial Highway, near Harbour Grace. The 60-year-old driver was found to be operating without valid insurance and had failed to transfer the vehicle’s registration after purchase. Tickets were issued for speeding, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and failing to notify the registrar of a transfer of ownership.
The following day, Jan. 24, at about 4:20 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on Route 60 in Marysvale after observing the front window covered with snow. The 64-year-old driver was also found to be operating without valid registration or insurance and was ticketed accordingly.
