Two impaired drivers arrested in Metro
Two people were arrested after two separate impaired driving incidents in St. John's.
On Tuesday afternoon the RNC responded to a call of a possible impaired driver in the east end. The vehicle was located by officers in another part of the city and the 49-year-old driver was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle and operation over .80. The male also had his driving license suspended and his vehicle impounded. The male was released to appear in court at a later date.
A couple of hours later an impaired driver was found following a complaint from the public. The 40-year-old male driver became aggressive with officers as he was being placed under arrest for Impaired Driving. As a result, the male operator was charged with assaulting a Police Officer, resisting arrest, and refusing to provide a sample. In addition, the male was charged with failure to transfer ownership of his vehicle. The vehicle was impounded. The male was transported to the St. John’s city lockup to be held for a morning court appearance.
