Two fatalities on the TCH after separate crashes #nltraffoic

The RCMP in both Gander and Lewisporte are investigating two fatal collisions.
One occurred on Friday and another occurred on Sunday.
On the TCH west of Glenwood, a collision claimed the life of a 51-year-old man.
At approximately 2:20 pm on Friday, police received the report of the collision. Officers attended the scene and located a pickup truck and a van, both off the roadway with severe damages.
The occupant of the van, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
The occupant of the pickup truck had no apparent injuries. The initial investigation suggests that the truck crossed over the centre line into the oncoming path of the van.
In a separate collision, a 65-year-old man died on the Trans-Canada Highway near Benton.
At approximately 4:45 pm, police received the report of a collision involving a transport truck and a car.
An occupant was reported as being trapped inside the car.
Officers arrived on the scene and found that the lone occupant of the car died upon impact. The driver of the transport truck was uninjured. The initial investigation suggests that the car crossed over the centre line into the path of the tractor-trailer.
