Two charged for poaching salmon

Two individuals have been charged for netting Atlantic salmon.

On June 14, Resource Enforcement Officers observed a gill net in coastal waters that appeared to be set for capturing Atlantic salmon. Officers conducted a surveillance operation at the location and intercepted a boat in the morning hours of June 15.

Two individuals from the community of St. Patrick’s were arrested for contravention of the Fisheries Act and will appear at court in Grand Falls-Windsor at a later date.

A boat, motor, net and 10 Atlantic salmon were seized.
