Two charged after dangerous driving leads to four vehicle collision in St. John's
The RNC has laid charges in connection with a collision resulting from dangerous driving in St. John’s back on April 4.
On April 4 police responded to a four-vehicle collision on Kenmount Road, near the intersection with Pippy Place, in St. John’s. As a grey sedan travelled West from Pippy Place on Kenmount Road, a westbound black Honda Civic changed lanes from curb to center lane to pass the grey sedan. In doing so, the black Honda Civic collided with a black Honda Accord, which was also travelling westbound.
The Honda Accord was forced toward eastbound traffic where it collided with two vehicles travelling East. Both the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord were believed to be travelling at a high rate of speed.
Officers have determined that both vehicles were travelling at a dangerous speed. The black Honda Civic had been travelling in excess of 120 km/h on Kenmount Road and the black Honda Accord was travelling in excess of 130 km/h.
A 25-year-old female from Portugal Cove – St. Phillip’s operating the black Honda Civic was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. In addition, a 21-year-old male from St. John’s driving the black Honda Accord was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Both individuals were released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
