On June 24, officers from the Resource Enforcement Division in Gander, with support from DFO River Guardians, apprehended a lone male from Trinity for illegally netting salmon, illegally possessing salmon and illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition out of season.

Officers observed an individual going out from the shoreline in a canoe and confirmed that this individual had set a net in that location.

The area was surveilled until the individual returned the next morning to haul the net. The net contained four Atlantic salmon.

The individual was arrested at the scene and subsequently released to appear in court at a later date, where he will face multiple charges.

The salmon and canoe, along with a 50-foot gill net, two knives, a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, and ammunition, were seized as part of this investigation.
