Tourist Accommodations Act Regulations Expected to Come into Effect in Fall 2024
Late this fall, regulations associated with amendments to the Tourist Accommodations Act are expected to be enacted.
The amendments require short-term accommodation hosts who list their primary residences to register with the Provincial Government. Additionally, short-term rental platforms are required to remove any listing that is not registered and to share information about their listings with the Provincial Government.
Short-term accommodation operators in the province who have not registered with the Provincial Government by November 2024 will be subject to penalties. To date, 2,630 accommodations have been registered.
