Torbay home destroyed by fire, leaving two residents displaced on Friday evening

A Torbay home was destroyed by fire, displacing two residents on Friday evening.

The emergency communications center received multiple 911 calls about a house fire in Torbay.

Firefighters with the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD) were quickly dispatched to the reports of the house fire on Bauline Line off of Torbay Road at around 6:00 p.m.

Rodney Gaudet, Chief with the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD), stated that fire crews responded to muiltple calls of a reported residential structure fire on Bauline Line at the intersection to Gosses Lane, within minutes fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the home. Chief Gaudet, also reported that two residents were displaced, and a pet was unaccounted for.

Firefighters quickly deployed attack lines and established a supply line to fight the blaze, fire crews were on the scene for several hours, until the fire was contained and no remaining hotspots were left.

There were no injuries reported, and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are investigating.
